Dr. Jayaprakash (Jay) Nair
Director, Chemistry, Research heading the Medicinal Chemistry group focused on RNAi platform and siRNA delivery - Alnylam Pharmaceuticals
Dr. Nair has contributed to the development of GalNAc conjugates and lipid nanoparticles, two clinically validated platforms for siRNA delivery, and the advancement of multiple therapeutic programs to development, which culminated in multiple approval of RNAi therapeutics ONPATTROTM, GIVLAARITM and OXLUMO™. He is currently involved in the development of extra-hepatic platform with the focus on CNS and ocular tissues. Jay received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2000 at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India. He moved to the U.S. for his postdoctoral research at North Carolina State University and Natural Product and Glycotechnology Research (NPG) Institute where he worked novel chemistries, oligosaccharide synthesis and characterization.
He is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, reviews, and inventor on more than 40 issued patents/Patent applications.
Heath Bowers, Ph.D.
North American Technical Business Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences - ABITEC Corporation
Dr. Heath Bowers has over 11 years of experience in the lifescience industry and is currently responsible for developing ABITEC’s lipid excipient business in North America. Prior to ABITEC, Heath worked at GE Lifesciences assisting customers in the purification of biological molecules and at VWR, LLC as the leader of the research and development team in VWR’s Solon, Ohio site. Heath holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University.
