Andreas Bernkop-Schnürch
Chairman for Pharmaceutical Technology and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at University of Innsbruck; founder and CSO of Thiomatrix Forschungs- Beratungs GmbH (www.thiomatrix.com); founder of MucoBiomer GmbH (meanwhile part of the Croma Holding) and Green River Polymers GmbH (www.green-river.eu).
He pioneered various novel technologies such as thiolated polymers (thiomers), charge reversing nanocarriers based on polyphosphates and lipid-based formulations for oral peptide and protein delivery. Andreas Bernkop-Schnürch has been awarded more than 20 national and international awards including the Best of Biotech Award, Houska Award, Ernst Brandl Award and Austrian Nano Award. He is author of over 500 research articles, reviews, patents and books. His publications have been cited over 23,000 and his H-index is 78.
Heath Bowers, Ph.D.
North American Technical Business Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences
Dr. Heath Bowers has over 11 years of experience in the lifescience industry and is currently responsible for developing ABITEC’s lipid excipient business in North America. Prior to ABITEC, Heath worked at GE Lifesciences assisting customers in the purification of biological molecules and at VWR, LLC as the leader of the research and development team in VWR’s Solon, Ohio site. Heath holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University.
