Poor solubility continues to be a challenge in many pharmaceutical drug formulations. More than 50% of new chemical entities (NCEs) are poorly water soluble. This means that half of the drugs being developed in the market today will have challenges around absorption and bioavailability.  In addition to improving the solubility of per-oral dosed actives, ABITEC’s functional lipids can increase the solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients for a variety of dosage forms and applications.

LIPID-BASED DRUG DELIVERY (LBDD)

Lipid based drug delivery (LBDD) is an effective method of improving the solubility of BCS Class-II and Class-IV compounds and the permeability of certain BCS (Biopharmaceutics Classification System) Class III and Class-IV compounds. ABITEC products are specifically designed for meeting the solubility challenges of the pharmaceutical industry. Our products can be used alone or in conjunction with one another to formulate a Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery System (SEDDS) in order to improve the bioavailability of an active.  Lipid based drug delivery (LBDD) which is an effective method of improving the solubility of BCS Class-II and Class-IV compounds and the permeability of certain BCS Class III and Class-IV compounds.  In addition to their use in the oral delivery of SEDDS systems, ABITEC’s lipids can be employed in a wide array of additional applications, delivery systems, and dosage forms.

CAPMUL®

ACCONON®

Acconon excipients are well-characterized mixtures of polyoxyethylene mono- and diglycerides, fatty acids or fatty alcohols. They are used to improve the bioavailability of poorly water soluble drugs by direct solubilization, or by acting as a stabilizing surfactant in active carrying emulsions.
